NEXT UP!! THE BLOOMFIELDS
NEXT UP!! THE BLOOMFIELDS
Harris is a young man that started from the bottom. He survived the projects and hustling the streets of Kansas City, Missouri.
Harris earned his street credit and with the fast life had women at his disposal. But a combination of his distorted perception of relationships and selfishness fueled his inability to settle down and he leaves a trail of destruction until he meets Twyla.
Twyla tamed Harris’s womanizing behavior proving that all men will commit to who they want when they want. With a new view on life, Harris becomes a one-woman man overnight and leaves behind six women as casualties. But Harris’s past will not allow him to live happily ever after with his new-found love. Find out which one of Harris’s conquest comes back to haunt him.
I remember when Harris and I used to talk about everything on those stairs. We vented about our family issues and shared our dreams. He used to call me his Rapunzel because he would throw rocks at my window, and I would throw his stash down in the middle of the night.
When I turned 17 years old, I was tired of being in the house watching kids. Against my mother’s wishes, I found me a job and focused on my grades during my junior year in high school. If I passed all my classes that year, then I would only have to go to school half a day my senior year; plus, graduate early in January instead of June. By that time, Harris was not tripping about the decoy thing because he was off to bigger and better things. His uncle moved the family out the hood. They were pushing weight to the projects and no longer needed to spend long nights selling pieces.
I am a living witness of Harris going from hundredaire to millionaire, and today he is well off, believe that. Harris and Bennie are the true definition of grit. They were born into that life and were true hustlers, starting from the bottom. If you were with them, then they had no problem sharing with you because they knew what the struggle felt like.
As time passed, I couldn’t take it anymore. My mother and I had a big blowout and I ended up leaving in the middle of the night. Harris happened to be outside supplying someone and he gave me a ride to the hotel; after I declined the invite to his spot a few blocks away. I used my payroll check to pay for a hotel for a few months. But I was struggling, and working was taking me away from focusing on my grades.
One night, I was walking back to the hotel after spending my last dollar on some light groceries. Suddenly, Harris emerged from one of the rooms and in an arrogant voice, told me I looked horrible. He questioned why I was still at the hotel he dropped me off at months ago and was concerned if I had become a junky.
His words were like sharp knives in my chest, but I held back emotions despite feeling fragile. Harris took a moment to observe my reaction before softening up. He then followed me to my room and tried to convince me to come move in his spot. After resisting for an hour, I gave in when he started taking my trash bags to his pick-up truck.
I don’t even know what I was fighting about because Harris was a blessing. I was going to have to either check out that next morning, or give my virginity to the clerk, Wallace. He gave me that option when he noticed I was coming up short on my payments. And to be honest, I was desperate and was considering it. That night would have been the night if Harris did not show up.
